The morning of my endoscopy I asked about the cost. I was told their costs were typical and competitive but they wouldn't give ball park amount to expect . This obfuscation was a red flag but I was worried about the difficulties I was having trying to swallow. It turned to cost over $10,000 with $7855 coming from Northside - Forsyth. I checked in at 8 am, spent an hour with the consultant, had the procedure, spent a half hour in recovery and was eating breakfast at IHOP by 11:15. How can a supposedly simple and common procedure cost so much? The people at Northside - Forsyth have been jerks to me when I ask for why they so much over the average national price for an endoscopy. I was charged over $3040 for the initial 15 minutes in the OR and charged $2120 for the pathology of 5 biopsy samples and then a $1040 bill from an outside lab for the same thing. I was promised a audit with a full explanation but when I checked back with them I was told by Rita that the supervisor she spoke to said there would be no audit, that the prices were the prices and to just deal with it. I requested to speak with the supervisor and was told he would call me back, but I never got the call (big surprise!) So long story short, if you need any kind of a medical procedure and don't want to get ripped off, DO NOT GO TO NORTHSIDE - FORSYTH!!
