My husband arrived at Desert Spring Hospital with pains in his side after a fall. He had an xray where it was found he had cracked four ribs. We were then requested to pay $500 deposit. There was no explanation that we would be sent another bill or given any idea of what the final cost might be. It was explained that my husband would need a CT scan. We were then left in a cubicle for over four hours waiting cor the scan. The nurse came about three to four times during that time. It was cold and although we commented on this no one offered us any type of blanket. When I asked whether there was anywhere I could get a coffee the nurse said he would get one for me. This never materialised. When it was time for the CT scan the radiologist seemed to have no idea what degree of pain my husband was suffering with his cracked ribs and expected him to lie flat. It was only when my husband suddenly started to shake violently did we get any reaction from her. Since returning home we have received a letter from a debt collector acting on behalf of Desert Spring Hospital for some enormous amount and again recently a letter from the hospital themselves requesting payment. However what is missing is an invoice or breakdown of costs from them. In no way would I recommend this hospital for treatment or its admin organisation. Collector E Ain
