I was referred to this surgicenter by my doctor for a few procedures earlier this year. As money is tight due to the current economic climate, it was very important for me to know exactly how much these procedures were going to cost me before I scheduled the appointment so I could decide if I wanted to go ahead with the full extent of my doctor's recommendations (one of the procedures was by no means necessary and I was planning on opting out if the cost was too much). I called ahead and asked for a pre-authorization for the procedures. After the office ran the information through my insurance, I was called back with a total of what the procedures would cost me out of pocket. I was sure to explicitly double check that the amount would be all the procedures were going to cost me. I could manage the cost, so I scheduled the procedures. The day of, I paid the amount I was told I would need to pay and all was well. Fast forward a few months, and I have now received four additional bills in the mail for the procedures totaling almost $1500 that I was never told about. I called the office and they said that the bills were from companies they contract with (anesthesia, labs, etc.). I asked why I wasn't told about those charges originally, and I was told that I should have been, and that the mistake was by all means the fault of their office. It is common practice for the pre-authorization to include all charges, contractors included, but their mistake was due to someone who 'no longer works with us now.' Had I known of all these additional charges, I would not have agreed to the full extent of these procedures. Now I am stuck with medical bills that I cannot afford and the office refuses to answer my emails pleading that they call their contractors to help explain THEIR error to help me defer these costs. This is exactly why so many people don't get the medical attention they require these days - profits over people.

I had a great experience from front to back. The nurses were very friendly and they got my IV on the first try with no pain.
