As surgeons they are the best. So if you don’t mind waiting an hour or more in the waiting room just to see them for 5 to 10 minutes, then you should be fine. MIL has been a patient of Barron & Homesley (both) for the past 7 years and have only been called back within 15-20 minutes 4 times out of about 30 visits. MIL suffers from replacements/surgery in all major joints. Make sure they explain full details of rehab so you know what to prepare for after surgery. You may have to go to nursing home/rehab care and you will need to do your research for that transition. We have dealt with 2 really bad transition issues by not being informed of what to prepare for and what to expect. MIL took over a year to get out of depression issues in 2009 by all the stress and lack of information and confusion. Don’t let the doctors tell you that you can stay in the hospital as long as needed because the Dr.s do not make to final decision about rehab. Only the rehab therapist do. We were asked to leave the hospital this last surgery in 10/2013 because of MIL not being able to put weight on her leg after hip fracture surgery (3 screws in leg) and she needed longer more involved care. We had NO idea that we would have to go anywhere other than in house hospital rehab. We appealed decision and were still denied. Ended up moving MIL 2X before getting her into home/rehab in Matthews. 1st home/rehab was in north Charlotte and was just too far and too crowded to receive proper care for recovery for an 80 year old. Each transition was mid or late in the day and MIL had to go without pain meds for 6 1/2 hrs the 1st trip and 8hrs the 2nd. Dr’s have to ALWAYS be reminded about all of her joint issues since they only seem to hone in on the current issue. Most of the time they rush her through her appointments and barely spend time with her.
