Dr. Abiele in the ER should never see patients. I’ve had nothing but good experiences until my recent visit. He got my chart mixed up with what I can only assume is someone else’s and loudly accused me of something I didn’t do. When I asked to see the chart, he snatched it away and told me it wasn’t my business. Hello? If that’s my chart, it is ABSOLUTELY my business. He loudly complained the entire time I was in the ER about another patient in the hospital—and how he didn’t want to be there . If you were in the ER for longer than 10 minutes, you knew their entire medical history—a clear HIPPA violation. I was discharged after I asked to see my chart and had to wait overnight to be seen by another doctor. I have MS and a host of medical issues and unfortunately have to make frequent trips to the ER—I’ve never been treated so poorly by any ER physician at Lawrence before. He sat and loudly discussed my conditions with the nurse, tech, and anyone who was within earshot of the ER. My husband was in the waiting room and could even hear him. He discussed my previous visit out loud and said he was tired of patients like me and the other lady in the hospital taking up his time. I told the nurse how upset I was about his behavior and she apologized profusely and confirmed it was normal behavior for him, and that the other personnel did not care for him whatsoever. I was also left to sit in my own blood from a botched stick—blood was all over the bed, my clothes, and the floor. When I pointed this out to him, he told me to clean myself up. I had been vomiting for 48 hours prior, and after the Doctor decided to harass me about his mistake, he refused to give me IV fluids since he ran a cat scan and it was okay. I also explained that I have cyclic vomiting disorder—and he said that it wasn’t on my chart, so therefore I didn’t have it and he wasn’t doing anything else. He then loudly complained about patients who think they know more than the doctor and that we should just treat ourselves since we know so much. I left crying, vomiting, and covered in my own blood. I’ve always had a good experience in the ER until last night. I don’t understand why he was so horrible to me—but according to the staff, he picks and chooses people to do this to. I was even told by another tech that I picked a bad night to come in because he was not a good doctor. Please fix this before he seriously harms someone or gets the hospital sued. You have a great team—please don’t allow this one doctor to ruin it. All of the other doctors I’ve seen there, including the ones during a week long stay I had a couple of years ago are great. Please fix this.
