Find another alternative for your surgery or procedure. My wife went in for a routine colonoscopy. While under anesthesia, she apparently had an issue with fluid and/or phlegm entering her lungs. She started to cough so they proceeded to suction her. This only made the issue worse. After the procedure and in recovery, her oxygen level dropped to 88 and below. Her blood pressure was consistently over 200/100. She was clearly in distress. Their response was a breathing treatment and a shot of steriods, neither helped. Talk of taking her to the emergency room was discussed but they seemed to not want to make the trip. Her breathing was labored and coughing up large amounts of mucus. The staff was clearly at a loss of what to do. My opinion is they are not qualified to handle any situation outside the norm. My wife was in severe distress with low O2 level and high blood pressure. She had trouble speaking complaining of a scratchy throat (obviously from the suction). If you experience a life threatening situation during a procedure at this facility, it is my opinion that they are ill equipped to handle it. 2 days later my wife is still congested and has a hard time speaking. We are seeking medical attention that should have been given by Culpeper Surgery Center before hurrying her to the car.
