Incompetence and arrogance! This is all I can say about this place and Drs. Berry and Wilizit. I was badgered by anesthesiologist Wilizit who told me that he was not going to "put me under" because had had something to eat (a smoothie hours before) and would aspitate, etc. when I was told that I would be awake for the surgery. Having been told by him about high mortality, I then went into a panic attack, which I had told them I would do. Hence the valium that Dr. Berry had prescribed and hence the tea in my hand with which to take it. Once in panic mode the nurses offered me the local anesthea option, which is what I was told I was doing in the first place. Wilizit continued to badger me and I told him that I did not understand why he was telling me that he was not going to so something that I never thought they were going to do to begin with. I told him that he was not helping and to go away. He did, only to return immediately with a message from Dr. Berry to cancel the surgery. So, instead of coming out to talk me through it and explain what they were going to do, Berry arrogantly decided to teach me a lesson by not even showing his face and any concern for me as his patient. It makes me wonder if he even knew which patient he was about to operate on, which eye, what lens, etc. These arrogant men wasted my money and time, and who knows what else if they had actually operated on me!

Attempted assault - this is what my attorney and local authorities call it when you tell someone that they will have local anesthesia and you intend to put them under general anesthesia. So, this is what I will call it in my complaint against Berry and Wilizit to the medical association.

After three eye surgeries for glaucoma and retina problems at two different hospitals, I landed at Fair Park Surgery Center for my last few surgeries. I had cataract and glaucoma surgery as well as eyelid surgery at Fair Park Surgery Center. I was very comfortable with the staff, and the nurses were great. My daughter has to take off work to take me in for surgery and she is very happy with how fast they get us in and out. I am fortunate enough to have all my medical expenses paid by medicare and supplemental insurance. But I noticed that my eye surgery bills were less than half of what they were my local hospital and at the big little rock hospital. I can't say enough good things about this wonderful place.

The Facility itself is good. Staff is helpful. Clean etc. Problems began when its time to deal with anesthesiology. I was told that anxiety will be medicated, any other issues medicated and adequate twilight maintained etc. What actually happened was full awake 9 minutes watching the surgeon do his work on the eye keeping still. Thats not twilight. Some pressure yes and pulling, cutting etc but no pain thankfully until after and later in the day. (No medicines period. Apparently I am a contract patient and that excludes me from any decent medication that is medically necessary to the work) The billing? HA, I expect a tusnami of very expensive billing after they finish fighting with insurance and copay was over 300 cash. (Medicare part B) The facility and staff is wonderful. But once I gather more information from records FOIA etc and have enough understanding against Anethesologist I might put him into the AR Medical Board review. Maybe. I need to think over what defines assault or awake under surgery itself... I don't know enough to make that decision. Surgeon did great. Its my second time with him there. Probably my last. After post pain and so forth will be medicated next day by pain doctors special. And things will improve from there. In the mean time I have some thinking to do. You can excuse me for not leaving specific names. Many good people there, just one person I need to check into and what was dosed etc before I decide what to do. I know I will never have another surgery of that kind ever again in this life. It does not matter what kind., If they do sawbones, put me out or shoot me. That was the last thought. primary care doctor allowed some benedril type medicine for anxiety prior to appt for Blood Pressure purposes. The Fairpark threatened to cancel entire surgery should I use the medicine. So it's no good. In the trash it went and I took my surgery wide awake and BP be darned.
