At Kips Bay Endoscopy it is all about making money and not your health. I walked into the waiting room and was handed a pile of forms. After filing them out I went back to my seat for another 30 minutes. Then I spoke to a nurse who had me sign forms giving permission for the procedure and anesthesia. I had never met my doctor yet I was signing consent forms. I was referred by my primary care doctor at Concorde Medical Group for a endoscopy, but never was told to see the gastroenterologist. When I called Concorde's GI doctor the secretary just made me an appointment at Kips Bay for Dr. Ackert. They staff took me upstairs where I changed into a gown and sat on display in a cold hallway waiting again. The Head Nurse was so rude and inappropriate when I attempted to ask a question about Dr. Ackert who I still had not met. Finally, I was taken into a procedure room and asked to sit on a table. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Moody, approached me and began asking questions. I answered them. she made a number of comments that I did not appreciate so I asked to speak to Dr. Ackert about using a different anesthesiologist. I was told that Dr. Ackert did not get involved in these matters by a Dr. Monkham. Having not met Dr. Ackert I said I wanted to leave. In walked the rude Head Nurse and a Dr. Friedlander who tried to convince me to say. Again, I still had not met Dr. Ackert. Well you can bet that I left and filed a complaint with the Department of Health and the OPMC. Who ever heard of a medical practice operated like this one.

The procedure, which is stressful, went smoothly at each step. Everyone I encountered was polite and explained what they were doing. The receptionist took the time to explain my insurance, something a patient should know, since we are the ones who buy the insurance. Their professionalism really eased the stress i was feeling before arriving at the Center. Just continue doing what you do best. Thank You!!

this place is bad news for patients. I was referred to the facility for a routine procedure. I arrived on time and then waited 5 hours with nothing to do. I walked out.

I had a very bad experience. Dr. Moody was my anesthesiologist and I refused to let her touch me because she was so inappropriate. She had someone's blood in the basket with the IV stuff. When I pointed it out she told me that she does this everyday. I was wrong. Then an older woman walked in telling me that she was in charge of anesthesia. She praised Dr. Moody and told me that Dr. Moody was my doctor like it or not. I walked out of the procedure room without ever seeing my doctor during my entire stay in the facility. Who knows where Dr. Jonathan Cohen was in all this? I was there for a follow up visit scheduled by Dr. Cohen whom I have not seen in 2 years.

I see the glowing reviews are signed in a strange manner suggesting the Kips Bay Endoscopy Center is writing their own reviews. Beware of this practice when reading the reviews.

WOW! The good reviews are all written last March on two days by Kips Bay Endoscopy Center. I am going to cancel my appointment and call my referring doctor for a new referral.

How is it that Kips Bay Endoscopy Center can get away with writing their own reviews? Doesn't New Choice Health monitor these pages to prevent this?

I count 12 reviews "by patient of Dr. So & So" the Center is writing it's own positive reviews. All the rest are negative. I went to Kips Bay last week and found the place very inappropriately run.

This place operates like an abortion clinic. You call Concorde Medical Group and they make you an appointment for a colonoscopy. You are prescribed a bowel prep over the phone that you drink and poop. When you arrive at Kips Bay Endoscopy Center you get to fill out forms and they verify your insurance. You then wait. finally a nurse ushers you to a room and asks more questions. She asks you to sign consents for the colonoscopy and anesthesia without ever having a physician explain the risks of either. Now you go up to the second floor. Here you disrobe and sit in the hallway with your personal parts open to everyone who walks by. Finally, you get to the room and meet the anesthesiologist who can barely speak english. I was stuck 4 times for an IV (the practice of medicine). Now I waited for the doctor. And I waited and I waited. Dr. Cohen finally walked in and told me he would be my doctor today. I never met a doctor as arrogant as him. I don't want someone sticking a tube up my ass without first speaking to me and learning why I was there. I did not come for a routine screening. I have had multiple surgeries and now had blood in my stool. Dr. Cohen knew better than me. I called a halt to the process and got dressed. Later I discovered the center billed my insurance company for the procedure as did Dr. Cohen. Be careful with your health. Better is just around the corner at the Murray Hill Medical Group.

I am a real patient and just went for endoscopy ultrasound today. I was skeptical at first after reading some negative reviews, but decided to go for procedure there anyway. I usually don't really write much reviews, but I feel that I really have to write this one. Not sure why there are negative reviews. This is the first time I went to KBEC. Scheduling for procedure is easy and quick. The place is very clean and nice with new equipment. The place is very comfortable and well organized. Doctors, nurses and stuffs are professional and caring. The paperwork process and the endoscopy went very smoothly without long wait time. The doctors who performed procedure and anesthesia doctor is very professional and caring. They answered all the questions and concerns which helped me at ease throughout the process. The doctor spoke with me after the procedure was done about the result. This helped alleviated all the anxiety away as we all know how hard it is to have to wait for the result. (I went there with my husband and a 3 years old and a 16 months old. They are waiting comfortably at the waiting areathe whole time while I was upstairs for the procedure.) I already recommended to my family and friends. I knew it right away that my health is in good hand. Highly recommended.

I can how one would conclude that the center is writing self promoting reviews to offset the negative opinions. I had a bad experience a few weeks ago. Was referred by my gynecologist to Dr. James Salik. Dr. Salik's office scheduled my procedure at the endoscopy center that he owns without ever examining me. They got me through the processing to the point where i was in the room. Dr. Pan the anesthesiologist frightened me. I had no trust in her after I asked her a few questions about Dr. Salik who I still had not met. Bottom line, I walked out. How is it that I got into the procedure room having never met Dr. Salik. I felt that I was being treated like a piece of meat. I walked out of the room and made a bee line to my gynecologist's office who was outraged by Dr. Salik having never met me.

The people here had their act together. I filled in the paperwork back home, signed a few more documents and before I knew it I was changing into a gown. I waited at the nurse's station where a lady next to me was complaining about the procedure. I told her "It beats death." She asked what I meant? I said, "In the long run." I laid down on a gurney and mainlined some anesthetic that put me to sleep. It was pleasant and I had good dreams. When I awoke it was all over. Three Polyps removed. I stayed in the recovery room for a while, talked to the doctor then took the Number 6 Train home. I was not exposed to any virus or bacteria as I would have been had I had this procedure done in a hospital.

I've been to this facility and wish to share my disappointment with the conduct of the staff and physicians. I am healthy in my 40's on no medications. I was referred by my internist for a simple EGD with Dr. Charles Friedlander. I arrived about 90 minutes early and filled out the required forms. Then I sat and waited for almost three hours in a paper gown as a parade of people walked by as I sat in a hallway. I was finally escorted into the procedure room where I encountered an anesthesiologist who could hardly speak english much less place the IV. It took her 5 tries to place the IV. I waited another half hour in the room before an elderly gentleman arrived and introduced himself to me as Dr. Friedlander. This physician did not instill trust as he appeared to be dirty as well as inconsiderate to me and the staff. No on should be treated like I was. I will not be going back and I am thinking about changing my internist as well.

I think that such a place should be closed. This place is dirty. You go into a procedure room that isn't cleaned after the last patient left. They just bring a "clean" scope into a dirty room. This is a venue for a few doctors to make some money and not a healthcare facility.

I went in to see a doctor for an endoscopy. The gentleman behind the deck said the insurance is going to cover it. Month later I get 3 seperate bills for the doc, the use of facility, and the anesthesia. Now Im thousands of dollars in debt. Ask for a written estimate of all the charges and cost before you agree with any procedures.

This place is filthy. Both my husband and I went for routine colonoscopy & EGD having recently turned 50. We met the GI doc for the first time in the procedure room while laying in a paper gown. After my procedure I began to itch something terrible. I found myself infected with lice from the procedure bed. My husband also was infected by the same doctor in a different procedure room. I complained to the facility and was told by their CMO that they follow stringent procedures, hence the lice came from elsewhere.

This place sucks. It is dirty. They put me in a paper gown in a cold hallway with my genital hanging out for everyone to see as the got off the elevator. After reading the prior reviews I concluded that the positive are being written by the facility since none matched my experience. This place is one giant health code violation. Protect you health and go elsewhere!!!

I was told on two different occasions that my insurance covered the entire procedure. Two months later after receiving a large bill for anesthesia I was told the anesthesia is out of network. This is a bait and switch practice. Beware of this facility.

I was a patient at KBEC for years. My first visit, an appointment made by my doctor at Concorde, was for an upper endoscopy & colonoscopy. I requested the colonoscopy and my doctor agreed that I needed it but determined I needed an upper endoscopy too, he was right. Well they were able to diagnose my problems but I needed to be tested for years after. Everything was fine. The place appeared clean to me although the patients bathrooms are sometimes nasty because they were still emptying there colon which means they did not follow the directions on the time to start & finish the medicines. Word to the wise try to avoid the patient's bathrooms if possible. The doctors always answered my questions and appeared very professional to me. Yes it is a big clinic setting so you may feel like cattle being herded but it is still a business so I am fine with that. The waiting area was nice in my opinion. The only problem that I had was the non-medical staff. Someone from billing called me after my last procedure about a check from my husband's insurance company, my secondary insurance. My primary insurance had covered the bill but they had also filed a claim with my secondary insurance. The lady was nasty and rude so I hung up. She then called my secondary insurance company to tell them that they were not primary insurance carrier as she claimed their records indicated. They had already billed and been paid by my primary carrier. They did not send me any bill prior to or after this call but they knew my secondary insurance company did issue a check to me on their behalf, which I had already returned and I made her aware of that. She then calls my secondary insurance carrier and tells them that they are not my primary and that I have insurance through my company. Well my secondary insurance company called me to make me aware of what she did. When I called KBEC and spoke with her she was still nasty. I asked to speak with her supervisor but I am sure she had a co-worker come on the line. I told them that I was going to report her for violating my patient rights and they tried to talk me out of it. I have not been back there since, I hope she has since been fired.
